Welcome to Merrin School and our school website.  We are a full primary school in Avonhead, situated in the north west of Christchurch.  We have a roll of approx 300 children from New Entrants to Year 8.

Junior Disco is 6-7.15pm and the Seniors at 7.30-9pm.  
There will be lots of goodies to buy to eat and drink. 


A reminder that School is closed on Friday 1 June for Teacher Only Day.
Monday 4 June is of course Queen's Birthday.

- CASPA (our before and after school care programme), would like to know of any families who require before school care.  Please let Ali in the office know if you require this service.
- We are in the process of reviewing our skiing options for Years 7/8 and would appreciate Year 6, 7 and 8 families completing the survey below.

Recent Events
- Well done to our Principals for a Day Winners.  On their days as being Principals many staff bonuses were given out as well as banning maths!
- Well done to all of our Syndicate Two children who competed well in their Cross Country.
- Congratulations to those students who are trialling to represent  Canterbury in Netball.
- Rooms 1-8 hosted a special assembly on Friday to award the Athletic's Day prizes.  Well done to the recipients of prizes and a huge congratulations to all of our competitors for their 'star' performances!
- We had a lovely Anzac Day Ceremony on Friday 27 April.  Thank you to all of the parents who were able to join us.  Our Senior Children spoke beautifully and our whole school behaved respectfully throughout - tino pai tamariki!   Also, a big thank you to all of you who purchased poppies this year.  We raised $107 for the RSA.
- Cultural Day was a fantastic way to end Term One!  So much colour and vibrancy with 31 countries represented.  Thank you to all of you who brought along yummy food to share and sell. We raised $400 for the sponsorship of our World Vision child from Uganda, 'Barbara'.
